Stringtown’s 3rd Anniversary!

This is what the shop looked like back in 2007 shortly after it first opened.  Look how empty the display case was, and we only had one model sweater! haha

Tonight we’re celebrating the shop’s 3rd anniversary with cake and a brown bag sale.  From 6PM-8PM during Stitch N Bitch I’ll have bags you can use to shop. Fill up one bag, you get 25% off everything in that bag. Your 2nd bag gets you 35% off, and the 3rd gets you 45% off. (Gotta make room for all that new Fall stuff I’m going to see at market next week!) If you can’t make it tonight, I’ll still let you play if you come in and ask me for a brown bag tomorrow or Saturday.

Also, the Featherweight Cardi Knit-Along is coming to and end tonight. We’ll be drawing names of those who finished for a $50 gift certificate at 7PM.

The Handspun Revolution Needs YOU!

Spinners! Lexi Boeger of Pluckyfluff is putting together an art installation for a show in Norway, and she needs your help to create a HUGE handspun skein.

I am spinning up a skein for this. If you’d like to participate, just spin one yourself then bring it to Stringtown ready to go in a ziplock baggie all tagged and pretty by Valentine’s Day. I’ll put all the local yarn in a box and mail it to Lexi so that it gets there before the March 1st deadline.

From Lexi’s Blog Post about this:

YARN!: This is the heart of it. We need each of you to spin one yarn to contribute to the Revolutionary Skein. It should be whatever YOU want it to be. It can be tradtional, non-traditional, any fiber spun in any way. Put your best effort into it. ANYONE can contribute, even if you just learned how to spin yesterday. we are trying to show the world the craft as a whole in all it’s facets and variations. TAGS: SIZE OF A BUSINESS CARD OR SMALLER ONLY! Your yarn needs to be tagged!!! Since this is about all the individuals that make the whole, please tag your yarn with the following: YOUR NAME. Where You’re From. Whatever else you want. These tags will remain on your yarn for all the world to see!

STATEMENT: Please include a piece of paper, any size any style written with any utensil stating what spinning means to you. What it does for you, what you think about it, a weird or exciting story about it, a poem about it, or anything else to this effect. I WANT YOUR THOUGHTS ON SPINNING. either personal, or abstract, or analytical or hysterical. doesn’t matter. (I plan to wallpaper the gallery with these revolutionary ideas).

So get busy!
